Genetic Characterization of Drought-Tolerant Maize Genotypes Based on SSR Markers

نویسندگان

چکیده

Using 20 pairs of SSR primers situated on each chromosome the maize genetic makeup, 27 drought-tolerant genotypes obtained from Germplasm Unit International Institute Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Ibadan, Nigeria, were examined for diversity. The samples' genomic DNA (gDNA) was extracted using CTAB procedure specified by CIMMYT (2005). All markers used in this investigation extremely polymorphic, resulting 122 repeatable and polymorphic bands that scored with an average 12.20 alleles. Each primer yielded a main allele frequency no more than 0.5. major 10 0.3036. With 0.8334, all had gene diversity values greater 0.6. Similar to this, Polymorphic Information Content (PIC) 0.8164 varied 0.9051 (primer umc1042) 0.6639 (Umc1669). Since umc1042 best identified variability, alleles generated points presence significant molecular variation across samples under study. This occurrence is further supported (GD) polymorphism information content primers. Therefore, it can be inferred are appropriate genotyping Due their different relationships, varieties IWD C2 SYN F2 SAMMAZ 52 have most diversified utilised as parent materials breeding programme.

Genetic Distance Based on SSR Markers and Testcross Performance of Maize Inbred Lines

The identification of parental inbred lines to develop superior hybrids is a rather costly and time-consuming step in maize breeding. In some cases, pedigree information has been used to select diverse parental lines. In the case of Iranian maize inbred lines, this information is not fully available. In this study we investigated the genetic distance (GD) based on Simple sequence Repeats (SSR) ...

Genetic diversity analysis of groundnut genotypes using SSR markers

Groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.), an important oilseed crop is a rich source of oil and protein. Molecular marker technologies are the effective tools and they are used for the assessment of genetic variability because they are not influenced by the environment. Among the molecular markers, Simple Sequence Repeat (SSR) has proved to be the most powerful tool for variety identification in groundn...

Identification of Drought Tolerant Wheat Genotypes Based on Seedling Traits

Drought significantly reduces yield of many crop plants including wheat in the world. Identification of wheat genotypes that can thrive on limited water is vital to boost the wheat production of rainfed areas. Forty wheat genotypes were screened for drought tolerance using 0, 7.5, 15 and 22.5% Polyethylene Ethylene Glycol 6000 solutions at PMAS Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi, Pakistan ...
